MEIK SCHWALM.
Trauma Therapy (NARM™)

What you fight within yourself once protected you.

Accepting it doesn’t happen in the mind. It happens through what you feel, once it is safe enough.

Meik Schwalm

What you fight within yourself once grew out of necessity. As a child, you depended on the people who were meant to be there for you. If something was missing, you could not afford to see it. A child who realises they are not getting enough loses the ground beneath their feet. So the need turns inward: not “You are giving me too little,” but “Something is wrong with me.” That keeps the bond intact, and a part of you stays the one at fault. To this day.

This has a name: developmental and attachment trauma. Unlike shock trauma, which can be traced to a single event, it develops quietly over time through what was missing rather than what happened. That is precisely why it often remains invisible for so long.

This is not about optimising yourself. What changes is quieter and deeper: the part of you that has felt at fault for so long is finally allowed to show itself without being fought. And as that happens, the old pattern gradually loses its grip. Where there was compulsion, choice begins to emerge. More and more, you are able to hold your own experience from your own inner ground. Not because you pull yourself together, but because you no longer stand in your own way.

Unlike coaching, this work is not aimed at achieving a result. There is no goal to reach, but a process that unfolds in its own time. We do not work with the story or with explanations, but with what is alive in the present moment – in feeling and bodily sensation. I hold the space, make room for whatever wants to emerge, and leave the lead to you. And when it gets difficult, I stay with the part that has gone without for so long.

NARM stands for the NeuroAffective Relational Model. What fascinates me about this approach is the way it brings together depth and self-agency. It is not only about exploring the roots of what once took shape, but about you becoming, step by step, the expert on your own experience. I do not lead you – I accompany, support, and strengthen your own capacity to find your way. You often know what you need before you can put it into words. I am a trained NARM Practitioner. The first step.

In a short call, we get to know each other and explore whether this feels like the right fit. There is no obligation and no pressure. If it feels right to you, we arrange a first session. From there, we find a rhythm that fits your process – usually one or two sessions a month.
